Independent people, practical software.

Boffins Ridge is built by people who have worked across events, membership organisations and rural businesses. People who understand how small organisations actually run, in the office and out in the field.

How we got here

Founded in 2016, Boffins Ridge began by building software for events. We worked with small businesses and large brands on trade stands, creating engaging marketing websites, small games and CRM systems that had to perform under pressure.

In May 2020, like many small organisations, COVID-19 forced a pivot. Away from the show floor, we came back to a simpler truth: a lasting love of countryside life, and a clear sense that rural organisations deserve digital tools as considered as the work they do on the ground.

Who we are

Experience in the field and in the office shapes everything we do.

Technical Design and Development

Determining how the solution should work and designing, building, integrating and maintaining it.

On the business side

Tobin has spent over 10 years developing technical infrastructure for businesses and events, from trade stands and advertising games, to payments systems, bespoke websites and CRMs. Most recently, he has developed an off the shelf CRM system to deliver a bespoke experience for a UK trade association, as well as a specialised website.

On the country side

Tobin’s countryside life started early with clay shooting with his family as a teenager, boating on the River Thames including winning the Thames Punting Championship, and sailing many places in the UK with his school and university. He is a keen historic rifle shooter and deer stalker, enjoys 4x4 off-roading, and still feels most at home outdoors and having worked on rural festivals and events since 2009, he knows the practical limits of countryside connectivity and designs systems that still work when the signal does not.

Business and Technology Strategy

Understanding the organisation, its people, processes, objectives and requirements.

On the business side

Hannah has run two small business trade associations as CEO, and seen first hand how many off the shelf solutions do not work for small businesses. Most need bespoke and specialist technology, and someone to help understand how the needs of the business can be delivered. In her most recent role, she worked with Tobin to push systems to their limit to truly deliver successful outcomes for the Gift Card & Voucher Association.

On the country side

Hannah learned to ride in Vermont as a child, schooling and drag hunting, a passion she has continued, alongside hiking the mountains and kayaking the rivers of her home state in the USA. She has more recently taken up clay pigeon and game shooting. That lived experience of yards, meets and field days shapes how she thinks about the organisations that keep rural life running, administered and tracked, and the tools that can make their work simpler.

Away from the desk, both spend as much time outdoors as they can - kayaking, punting and sailing; hiking and trekking; shooting and stalking; riding; attending music and food festivals; visiting heritage sites; sampling wine on vineyard visits; helping out with a farm cafe and pumpkin patch; and buying local seasonal produce whenever possible.
